Lucero and I head out for a Sunday ride to Pleasanton, CA from our home in San Leandro. The owner of the 2002 gave good directions, so I thought at least he's got that on his side. We found his home easily enough and at first sight, said, "oops, that car doen't look like the one posted online." No, I was reassured that was just an older 2002, the one for sale was in the back. The real car looked and sounded very good; passed the test drive. We talked price. Then I couldn't hold back and asked if the "other" car was for sale.
A parts car? will this be worth it?
Turned out it was for sale. Not a bad price, either. I said I'd think about it. There was some complication with one out-of-state license (the good car, of course). We had to ride back home to get cash anyway, so told the seller we'd be in touch.
Once again Lucero reminded me that I'd regret it.
It was a pensive ride home, but we knew we'd be back the next day. So, next day we hopped on BART, the owner picked us up at the station, we got back to the cars and knew we'd made another good deal. I drove the parts car home, Lucero drove the good car home. We made it without AAA and the Shark now had company.
