We got another car. We got it at the end April 2025 and I've been working on it since. It is a 2003 BMW 540i M-sport touring. We got it in Oakland, but it was originally from Michigan. Unfortunately, that means salted roads and BMWs' affinity for rust. On the way home the Service Engine Soon light came on.

Because there was evidence of rust on one of the door panels, I just about said "no" to the purchase. But one look at Lucero's face, and I knew she didn't want to go home empty handed. She asked if the panel could be replaced. "Yes." She then reminded me that I would regret it if we didn't get the car. And that she would have to live with me and my regrets! So, I said "OK, let's take it for a test drive.
Once I turned the engine over, heard and felt the V8, that was it.
It was one of those long driving days when you're still buzzing even after a refreshing beverage. But the next day that darn 540 E39 was sitting in our driveway. Yes!
